Reading the highway code is essential before starting lessons. You don’t have to have read it all the way through but its best to have made a start. Other books recommended are..Driving : the essential skills and the official driving test, both available at book shops and written by the DSA.

It’s best not to. The driving test is very specific, and it can take a long time to “teach out” wrongly taught habits. The way you were taught first tends to be the way you remember, so if its wrong…..!

Pass rates are very ambiguous, even the best prepared pupil may be thrown by something that happens on the day. I prefer to build up a relationship with the student to have them prepared to the best of their potential.
